3 Squadron Harvard

This is my first group build so am very keen to be a part of this. I was going to do a WHIF build, but thanks to Andrew Doppel suggesting this scheme I have decided to do it as one of the few harvards that 3 Squadron RAAF flew. References can be found on ADF Serials. This is the 1/72 Academy kit. It is a great little kit that falls together. I have made a few adjustments as you can see from the photos.

Here we go......

I removed the radar (??) from behind the cockpit and added a new exhaust.

All painted up, glossed and ready for decals. I used Gladiator decals that fitted a treat and used home made decals for the serials

Here she is with the decals on.....just a few touch ups here and there.

Here I have disks from plastic rod for the lights.

Here is my 3 Squadron Harvard completed. Mods to the Academy kit, were the Ariel, the exhaust, landing lights in the wings, and balance weights on the prop. I went light on the weathering; A thing layer of dust, panel line grime, and exhaust staining. Really enjoyed putting this together.

Noel,
That looks just great. I especially like the worn look of the tyres, which I think really sets this off.
I hope you do not mind my input here, however I do believe that some additional canopy framing to reduce the side of the three large clear panels would be a more accurate look than the later T-6G style as provided in the kit. See photo attached.
Cheers .. and very well done.. Dave.

Thanks Troy and Dave. Dave I put some time in today correcting the window frames and thought I should put the landing gear covers on too. Here is a shot of the amended product.

Well done Noel,
Funnily enough I didn't even notice the missing gear doors!!
Ain't it amazing what a second pair of eyes can do.
She's come up trumps..
Cheers.. Dave.

Thanks Ray and Dave. I appreciate the extra eyes Dave....there is one more thing that I need to fix....the aerial. On AJ845 it is in front of the windscreen just as the photo you sent. Oh well, I will have to sort that out next. Cheers.
