Civie Bushmaster Fire Truck

Postby Cyclops » Sun May 19, 2013 11:08 pm

While travelling my mum took this photo for me in SA, a Mt Gambier Forrestry Bushy. A bit differnt looking but still pretty cool. I knew these were being produced but I had never seen a picture of one.

WTF?

So, the Taliban are planting IEDs in the scrub now? I struggle to see the point of this, surely an off the shelf commercial option is cheaper and more supportable platform.

FireKing, rather expensive and so far I think only taken up by Forestry SA.

Reasonably impressive but simply too big for the tracks in many forest areas.

Many of the features in this appliance are finding their way into the more conventional rural tankers - thermal curtains, spray protection, remote monitors, etc. The latest CFA prototype heavy tanker has no provision at all for firefighters to work from the rear deck - it's all done from within the cab or on foot.
I'm not older than dirt, but I do remember when it was new.
