Australian Centurion ARV (Vietnam)

Hi all,

it has been ages since I posted any models but just to prove I am still modelling, all be it at a glacial rate. I wanted to show this one that has been about 18 months in the making and is about 98% there..... still some tweaks and touch ups to. The kit is the AFV Club Aussie Cent Mk5/1 with the Accurate Armour ARV conversion kit that I bought some time ago. The AA conversion kit was good with just the normal issues associated with large resin parts.

After getting halfway through the conversion I discovered that the large spade part was missing. An email to AA and a new one was in the mail no questions asked.... great service! I later discovered that the kit was also missing a PE Fret that included the armoured shields for the commanders 30cal MG and the protection for the large storage trays along each side of the rear deck. By then I just thought bugger it and made them out of plastic card. Almost all the stowage is included in the kit including all the ammo liners.....so many I didn't use them all! I scratched up the trunk and other odds and ends came from the spares stash. Paints are a mix of Tamiya and Humbrol. In the future I'd like to set this in a diorama but that will a while away. Definately a challenging build at times but rewarding all the same.

Apologies for the crappy mobile phone pics,

Cheers,

Matt
