Thanks boys. The seats look pretty good, I reckon but I know the belts aren't the way they're normally left in a Before Flight - it was too hard to get them in the right spots without repainting everything. Despite reports, the kit is a bit of a struggle to assemble in a few areas. Trying to get the AM stuff in doesn't help! Just installed the CMK wheel wells which I really like but realised I've missed some areas with paint in the intake trunks. Out with the airbrush again...

Coming along in fits and starts, fitting in between the decal battle with the Lancaster.

Fitted the forward fuselage and centre together.

As previously mentioned, the fit is a challenge in some places. Some bits are great - but not all. Still some work to do on filling the lower section but I'll wait until the rest of the fuselage is assembled as the intakes are likely to be an issue. Just getting the wings together at the moment.

The fit on this is not ideal. Close tolerances mean a slight misalignment which you don't notice during initial assembly causes issues as you progress.

You can see a few alignment issues with the intakes in this shot:

The glove sticking out at the trailing edge isn't an issue as the fairings cover it. Of more concern is the fit of the fuselage lid and the gaps around the intakes. Lots of filling and fairing to come, I fear.

Lovely work thus far. Hopefully she doesn't fight you too much with the fit issues!

Stick with it Rob, the end result will be a beauty no doubt. They are a chunky beast in the flesh!

After a short hiatus while my wife visited, I'm back into it.

Got the tail and wings assembled and I'll leave the elevons off until after painting, along with the exhausts - less masking that way!

I've also been working on the pylons and stores. Ash donated the fuselage pylons I needed (thanks again, Ash!) and I'm utilising the outer pylons Shaun from Britmodeller casts (all versions of the Revell Tornado have the European pylons, not the British ones). I've raided the Airfix kit I first bought for the Hindenberg tanks and BOL missile launchers, too.

Getting close to the first painting session now.

Nice work. Rob. I didn't know that about the pylons.. Guess I'll have to get some of those as well.

Do you think the Aires Exhausts are a worthwhile upgrade?

Thanks, Calum. I reckon they're definitely better than the standard but, after also getting the Eduard detail set (which I used less than half of with everything closed up!), I'm not sure I'd get it again. With the Eduard set on top of the already pretty good detail out of the box, I would save your money. Not sorry I've got them, though!
