Sky High 1/72 T-34C WIP

Postby hrtpaul » Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:47 pm

Ok until we get a Falklands GB thread I'll put this here. I've never done a WIP thread before mainly cos I'm too lazy to take pics. I'll give it a go though. This is the Sky High 1/72 T-34C that I'll be building as an Argentinean Navy example (well that's the plan :? ). I guess this is what is referred to as a limited run kit and it will be my first. There is a lot of flash and poorly moulded bits. There aren't any location tab things either which will make lining up rather important. The canopy is rather thick and the fit in general is a tad dodgy to say the least. Definitely not a Tamigawa kit that's for sure though I am looking forward to building it. It's the second "Falklands War" plane that I'm doing with a 1/72 Sea Harrier on the go also. I'll try to keep the pics coming if I can remember

Brother: Do you really need that many Phantoms?
Me: Don't make me kick you outta the shed for asking dumb questions
Brother: But are you gonna build all these models?
Me: Yeah of course I am. Now get outta my shed

Very cool Paul.....keep the updates coming mate, (I know it's a pain in the bum taking photos at every stage of the build, but it is quiet satisfying and interesting for all when you review the progress, and see the model coming to life before your very eyes). Poor ol "412" sure looks the worse for wear.

Very nice. I'll be following the build closely.

I agree, not only is it a good record of your build and methods, but great instruction for those of us still learning the craft and gives everyone a good look at a kit they may consider building.

I can't believe this. I managed a second update without forgetting    I've got the cockpit basically done. And the cockpit is very basic let me tell ya. I'm gonna be using enamel paints this time for something different. I added seatbelt made from choccy wrappers and painted. I'm pretty happy how it turned out though it is a little rough in places. Lucky in this scale through the thick canopy it won't look too bad. Here's some pics :)

1 belt bare and 1 painted

Both painted. Came up ok

Like I said rather basic. You won't see much once it's closed up.

The bulkheads from styrene are to hold the cut up sinker nose weight in place.

I'm really liking this Paul, I didn't know about this kit, very interesting
looks like it will need a bit of weight up front to stand on the U/C

Thanks mate. I just googled it and found a kit. Cost me bout $25 landed from ebay. Prolly a bit expensive for what you get but I needed one. As for the nose weight, that's why I put the bulkheads in. I think I'll have enough weight up front but the nose will be full of lead :? I'll prolly break the nose gear and then it'll sit nose down  Really enjoying the build so far. That will prolly change once I get to the filling stage though  I should finish my F-5 asap cos I want to start the Pucara.
