RAAF WW2 mechanics in 1/48?

Postby Swede » Mon Sep 21, 2020 1:26 am

I think I just want to add one or two RAAF mechanics to the WW2 diorama, that's WIP.

Are there such figures out there?

I found this kit at the Scalemates website.

Can the figure dressed in shorts and a hat be used as an aircraft mechanic?

Put "aircrew" into the AWM search and you will get many pictures.

Mechanic dress depended very much on the theatre of operations and the season of the year.

Thanks for the link.

However, is that set useable for a scenario with a Boomerang in the Far East? Their clothing looks it bit too warm in my eyes.

Hi Morgan,

I reckon if you look for anything RAF/Commonwealth Desert Air Force, that will get you close to the target. Details may not be congruent with the Boomerang setting, but by and large, it should fit the bill.

Can maybe one of these two sets be used as RAAF mechanics in the Far East for the diorama?

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/a-resin-48014-raf-mechanics-ii-ww--1187059

Or maybe this one?

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/cmk-f48345-wwii-raf-mechanic-in-india-elephant-with-mahout--1154479

(Maybe the elephant with elephant handler can be used for another diorama) :-)

There is not much out there to chose from...
